Catalogue of the Unarchived
Performance dates: 21 October 2025, 14 November 2025, 5 December 2025
Catalogue of the Unarchived explores how that which never entered the stage — scenes that remained unperformed, roles unstudied, words unspoken — can still become visible. The work asks how one might inscribe oneself into the gaps of memory, and what it means to insist on presence in spaces shaped by erasure and omission.
At the centre of the piece is a cloakroom, reimagined as a scenographic archive: a threshold where garments are not simply stored, but activated. Visitors are invited to hand over their own clothing. Performers then step into these garments and work with make-up inspired the play "Der süße Duft kommt nicht von Rosen" directed by Peter Dehler, using visual traces to bring fragments of unrealised theatre into the present. Through embodied transformation and mutual exchange, moments of what never came to be appear temporarily in the room.
The performance foregrounds a quietly activist claim to presence: not only the presence of performers, but also of visitors, whose bodies, clothes, and participation become part of a shared, provisional archive. Instead of remembering finished works, Catalogue of the Unarchived activates potentialities, interruptions, and the soft resistance of simply being there.
Presented within the context of "Ausgefallene Stücke", curated and conceptualised by Johanna Stapelfeldt.
Part of the project Dramaturgien eines Archivs. Studioinszenierungen am „bat“: Theatergeschichte(n) im neuen Inszenierungsarchiv der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch, gefördert vom Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt.
